NEW SINGLE – NEW DAY OUT FEBRUARY 18th
NEW DAY is Brisbane-based singer songwriter Marty Breen’s first single release from his forthcoming album #ETERNITY which was recorded in Brisbane’s AIRLOCK STUDIOS in late 2021. Marty said brain cancer has taught him one major lesson: ‘Love is eternal’. “And that’s what NEW DAY is about”, Marty said. #ETERNITY is Marty’s second studio album, with his debut Origin released in 2006 when he was living in Lennox Head. Just after ‘Origin’ was released Marty returned to a senior political and corporate career before a major health scare delivered him back to songwriting.
ABOUT MARTY
Marty Breen is a Brisbane-based singer songwriter who likes to label his music ‘organic Australian folk’. “I’m a proud Aussie of Irish descent. I want to sound Australian. I want to sing about things that matter to me and to us as a community, and about issues of the day. So for me it is compelling to sing about things that really matter. My hope is that #ETERNITY is received as inspired by my optimistic outlook on life, and with a bright and positive energy and message” Marty said.
#ETERNITY’s ten tracks are a collection of melodic singer-songwriter ballads mixed in with catchy high-energy light pop-rock, and influences from the classic songwriters of the 1970s-90s. There is a modern Irish feel to the album and artwork, reflecting Marty’s family heritage. His lyrics are serious, thoughtful and powerful, and carefully matched and inspired by his melodies.
His debut ‘Origin’ was released in 2006 when he was living at Lennox Head and was well-received in the northern New South Wales Byron Bay folk scene and on BAY FM, where he won multiple awards, as well as in his home-town of Brisbane where it was well supported by 4ZZZ and local ABC. His first album received widespread airplay on community radio across Australia through Community Broadcasting Association of Australia and local ABC. Marty says he loves working with community radio. “Community is where my heart is. It is my natural fit as a songwriter.”
MARK HUGHES FOUNDATION
Marty has partnered up with Mark Hughes Foundation (MHF) and Powderfinger band members to raise some funds and help MHF find a cure for brain cancer. Marty said “I’m a huge believer in the power of research and what can be achieved when community partners raise awareness and funds for collaborative research. Mark Hughes is an extraordinary leader, and I am a true believer in his Foundation, and now I have a seriously vested interest in helping MHF get a cure for brain cancer. In fact, it’s the children with brain cancer that really motivate me to want to help, even if just in a small way because every little bit helps, and I’m very grateful to Ian Haug and all of the fellas from Powderfinger for generously supporting this effort.”
